WELCOME TO MY HAPPY PLACE

When I was little I live in the country with my grandparents and aunt. It was a place of gentle love and quiet nurturing. I would wake to the sounds of laughter and conversation coming in through my open bedroom window where grandma and aunt worked in the garden.
Those memories are full of sunshine.

And then things suddenly changed. I found myself surrounded by cement, noise, and unkind strangers. One was my mother who didn’t seem to like me and always kept her distance. The other was my stepfather who paid too much attention and always found a new way to make me miserable. The abuse was relentless and everything terrified me. 

Fortunately, there was a high school art teacher who never knew what a difference she made in my life. She praised my work and encouraged my growth. I had found something that made me special and worthwhile. It took me years to take that small kernel of hope and grow it into a good sense of self, but I did. The art that I create is the core of who I am. While the subject of the paintings is not literal images of those days, they are always based on those early memories of love.

It is my fondest wish that you will find pleasure in something I have created and want to make it your own. So peruse my gentle offerings and deny not what your heart desires.
